I’ve been meaning to do this post for so long now, so it’s a little late but here it is.
According to Pantone, the colour of 2014 is Radiant Orchid. Not just plain old orchid, but it’s radiant!
“Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health” - Pantone’s description of the colour.
So a purple/pink shade for the year? This is relevant to my interests. So I found myself wondering – where and how can this be translated to the beauty world? Well it’s starting to show up and make itself known. Here are a few of my top picks for Radiant Orchid beauty!
MUA Cosmetics Shade 21 (Pearl) – A light, pretty purple with a pearl sheen for a hint of that lovely purple colour of the year. (image taken from google images)
OCC Cosmetics Creme Concentrate in Miriam. A muted orchid for the eyes, cheeks or lips.
Benefit Lollitint. Described as Candy Orchid, this lip and cheek tint is perfect. While purple isn’t commonly seen on the cheeks, this can give you a lovely orchid glow if used just a little on the cheekbones. (Image taken from google images)
Glo-Minerals GloCreme Blush in Plumeria. Another brave orchid toned blusher. Gorgeous shade but use sparingly. (Image taken from cocktailcosmetics.co.uk)
Staying with Benefit (and don’t forget you can use Lollitint on your lips!) this is Talk Flirty, an Orchid Pink medium coverage lipstick. (Image taken from Google Images)
OCC Cosmetics Lip Tar in Hoochie. If you’re feeling extra brave and really want to rock the orchid flavour, then OCC is your best bet. Their Lip Tars are amazingly pigmented, so what you see is what you get here. (Image taken from cocktailcosmetics.co.uk)
Models Own Iced Purple from last year’s Neon Ice Collection. Like the eye shadow above, it is a bit more on the purple side of the orchid spectrum, however it is a lovely shade to include the light purple into your wardrobe.
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Nail Varnish in Wild Orchid. A radiant, pretty colour that will survive the week on your nails and keep them on trend. What more could you ask for?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for this incredible colour of the year? Let me know!
